We hope everyone had a Happy Easter! We enjoyed a beautiful day here in San Diego. Saturday had been cool and overcast, but then Sunday was warm and sunny and just gorgeous.
Saturday we ran a few errands, and made a quick side-trip to find a local vineyard. Along the way we found a new produce stand that sold ostrich eggs and jerky...and a few miles past it we saw the ostrich farm. I hope they mostly use them for eggs and not jerky!! Then we found the vineyard we were looking for and walked around the shop there for a few minutes. Nice place!
It's amazing that we live in a city and are two minutes away from most of the major stores and conveniences, but just 5 minutes in the other direction there's no sign of the city and it's just rolling hills and countryside as far as you can see, with vineyards, orchards and produce stands, horses and farms and various other animals. We picked a great spot in town to buy a house, I think.
We spent a good part of the day Sunday enjoying our back yard, and later went for a ride on the motorcycle. We rode over to Valley Center and stopped at Bates Nut Farm, which had unfortunately just closed the shop, but we walked past the petting zoo area and enjoyed seeing the goats, sheep, alpacas (I think?), a peacock, pot bellied pigs, a very proud turkey, emus, chickens, ducks and geese. :)
We also made our seemingly weekly stop at our favorite produce stand, and then Greg made a run to the store for "meat" and came back with some great steaks. Needless to say dinner was fresh and delicious.
After dinner I worked in the garage for a little while, and we wrapped up the evening watching a movie. All in all a very enjoyable and peaceful weekend. I hope yours was as good! :)
